Here you will discover 125 wonderful watercolours, drawings and oil paintings by Paul Klee. These works document each of the artist’s creative phases and attest to the inexhaustible pictorial and narrative richness of his art.

Ground floor
The entire ground floor is dedicated to the presentation of works by Pablo Picasso. These works are arranged in chronological order. This allows visitors to trace the development of this seminal artist through paintings from the 1938 to 1969.

The complex world of Picasso’s drawings and prints is represented on the second floor. Also on view are his five portraits of Angela Rosengart. In addition to the Picassos, works by over 20 other artists are also displayed on this floor.

Architecture
This exquisite collection moved into its new and utterly coherent home in what is a former branch of the Swiss National Bank in March 2002. Previously, the neo-classical building dating from 1924 had been bought by the Rosengart Foundation and carefully converted by the Basel architect Roger Diener. Visitors to the museum will be entranced by the perfect symbiosis between the Collection and its premises.
